intelligent reflection on a lifetime in teaching before it became a service industry, and a form of electioneering.truthful about many things unknowable to anyone outside the staffroom, with a strong sense of the role of time in becoming more human.,and of teaching as a natural force and an inevitable humanity.i fear we may have disagreed about much, but again that is all part of the incomparable reality of being a teacher.perhaps i should say being a real teacher.if like my mother, you always wanted to do your bit but were denied the chance by circumstance, close and repeated reading of mr rush's text will bring you as close as may be to the teacher's perspectives and unique understandings.if you are the school governor type who imagines that he uniquely can lick the whole thing into shape according to the daily mail's prescription,or a talking suit headteacher ,this is not for you. to such as these,i say, solve the problems in your own life first(big job).anyone who wants a series of touching, sentimental tales about the "kiddiz" a la gervase phinn(or any other class traitor) will be disappointed.
