I've never actually read through The Iliad completely, sure I've skimmed, I've seen the Brad Pitt movie, I've read The. Song of Achilles...I love The Trojan War and all it's spin offs...so I thoroughly enjoyed this.

It is well written with humour and wit. I really enjoyed it and just wish I could make it to the Globe before it finishes it's run.

Simon Armitage has made this story readable and enjoyable whilst retaining the essence of the great classics. Awesome achievement and a brilliant book. If reading with youngsters though, be warned the language is modernised too in a couple of places and angry people swear! Recommended highly for adults though.
