This saga is set in the Palestine of 1917, a starving segment of the Ottoman Empire, besieged by the Egypt-based British under Allenby. It culminates as the British prepare to meet the Austrian artillery with cold steel in the charge at Huj.
From the Author
"Excitingly told, moving...and rather chilling" Sunday TimesThis is a novel about the British campaign in Palestine in 1917 which ended 500 years of Turkish occupation and liberated Jerusalem. It deals with the heroic action by Yeomanry cavalry against the Austro-Hungarian guns at Huj, a successful charge of the Light Brigade. Some of the historical characters who pass through my story are well known. Others, such as the Jewish heroine Sarah Aaronsohn and her spy ring are not. I have tried, in word and deed, to be faithful to all of them.
