Syntheme surfaced several years ago on the electronic music forums, and quickly secured signings to several repected electronic music labels after her live shows gained notoriety. After two EPs, a full album was announced on Planet-µ for this year. As acid techno has gained an almost retro street credibility from artists like Aphex Twin and Ceephax, some like Syntheme seem to push the envelope to further the genre. What starts off with trademark 303 synths evolves over the album to include elements of acid house, electro, even some disco influences. These variables tend to make the album stronger as a whole, encompassing 20 tracks over it's running time. For a very melodic, rhythmic, and surprising debut from such a young artist, you will not find a better thumper this year.
EDIT: The rumors have now panned out that Syntheme's music was composed by veteran artist Global Goon. However, her other moniker, Kobi, is her actual playing and will most likely see release in the future. I have been a Goon fan for over 10 years, so I'm glad I bought this album anyway, it's great stuff.
