5.0 out of 5 stars L'art du shakuhachi 6 Dec 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Most people have heard the haunting tones of the japanese end blown flute in movie sound tracks or on TV but perhaps few have discovered the fascination of traditional Japanese music. If you only want to buy one example of shakuhachi honkyoku (original music) then this is the CD to own. Yokuyama sensei plays a number of solo pieces and as assisted in duets by his pupil and master in his own right, Iwamoto sensei. This modest CD contains a rare wealth of shakuhachi experience from a lineage that can be traced back to the 17th century.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yokoyama Katsuya is ichi-ban! (number one) 3 July 2000
By Pamela D. Stafford - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
After reading the book Blowing Zen, by Ray Brooks I was desparate to hear a shakuhachi flute being played. Katsuya is considered a true master,so I ordered this disk. The sound of the shakuhachi flue is unique and hypnotic. It will truly transport you to another part of the world and another state of mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exquisite shakuhachi flute 31 Aug 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This album is quite wonderfully evocative of a meditative state of mind. I am especially impressed by the duets between Katsuya Yokoyama and Yoshikazu Iwamoto. I heartily recommend these artful renderings of the classical shakuhachi repertoire.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEAUTY OF THE HIGHEST ORDER 24 Sep 2004
By E-Banger - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This is the only cd of shakucachi music I own, and would not mind if it stayed that way! Every moment of this CD is filled with such deep spirituality. The first track almost paralysed me when I first put it on. Love it.
