System Requirements:
Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8, Mac OS 9.1 and above
• Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 users should upgrade to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 or later to avoid unstable connections.

Power Usage Alerts:
• To ensure a stable connection, don't use this hub with high power consumption devices (those exceeding a combined current of 0.9 Amps among all ports) such as some large-capacity hard drives.
• This hub is not meant to serve as a stand-alone charger. It is not compatible with iPads or any other devices with irregular charging requirements.

Additional Notes:
• Some USB 3.0 devices require direct connection to host ports.
• 2.4Ghz wireless devices (keyboards, mice, etc.) may not work around USB 3.0 ports. Try using a USB 2.0 connection.

Worked as described for a few days. Keep this in mind: I take care of my possessions, and perform tasks as any normal person would; knowing that judge this next statement/fact accordingly. I unplugged a normal usb cable form one of the slots in this item......the thin/cheap/weak blue plastic "guide" (square piece of plastic inside the slot) came up with the cable, I was shocked and when I removed it found it had become brittle and had already divided into two pieces. To avoid any confusion as to wether this was due to negligence or something else: I have no pets, no kids, no guests that have access to my computer room in any way. I did not travel with the item nor did I move it for any reason. To make matters worse, the second item (I bought two) had THE SAME THING HAPPEN twice to two different slots, totaling three between two items, all with three different usb cables (one a standard usb cable, one a standard usb drive, the other an console controller). This had two stars instead of one because delivery was on time. I do not give bad reviews often...
You have been warned.

Wanted a USB3 replicator for my Sony Ultra-book. This one is small enough to take with me when I travel, and works perfectly for all low power USB 3 peripherals, such as my headset and mouse connection. Installed first time with Windows 8. Looks like a quality item, blue strip glows when plugged in so you know it is working.

I can't fault the product; I couldn't find a better deal for a USB 3 hub, it looks good, does what it's supposed to and is at a reasonable price. One small criticism might be the USB plug that the hub connects to is short at about 6" length, that's not a problem for me so I don't thinks it's a common reason to dislike a product for anyone else.

Fit and finish seem very good. Small cable means little clutter. Black shiny finish is attractive. ports are well spaced to attaching devices is easy. Has enough juice to power a 1tb drive with no external power supply.

Anker gave me this product in exchange for my honest feedback.

This is the second hub I have used although the first was externally powered, being host powered does reduce the battery life of my laptop by about 25 mins from a regular 2 hours 30 mins when 3 additional devices are connected via the hub (phone transferring files, keyboard and mouse). Just don't leave it plugged on while booting if your computer booting order starts with USB drives first as it will take longer to start up. Windows seems to think it has found new hardware each time I plug it into a different port.

*Have tested while it was plugged into a USB 2.0 port copying files across from my phone to an external hard drive and averaged a speed of about 18mb/s which is pretty close to when there is no hub involved (20.5mb/s)

The good:
Well packaged, really good USB 3.0 transfer speeds, USB 2.0 backwards transfer speeds also really good. Under normal operation the hub stays cool and with heavy usage only warms up slightly. Ports well spaced out, so connecting usb devices like pen drives which are notoriously fat and compete for room like on my other hub is no problem. No problems thus far with any devices I plug in.

The Improvable:
Didn't particularly like the glossy finish, matte probably would have been better. The cord is a little short (I realise thats probably to avoid power losses) and not really flexible (this limits the usb ports it can be plugged into at least in my setup as one side of my laptop leans over the side of my desk, which could potentially be a problem if a user only has a pc with one usb 3.0 port). Grips, i.e. rubber feet on the underside would have been nice.

Bought it with confidence as a gift because of the past experience I had with Anker. However, I am astonished by this USB Port! You cannot even insert any usb cable at all. The slots just will not allow you no matter how much you try! Very disappointed and I am embarrassed that my gift turned out spoilt.

Bought this for my Surface Pro 2 along with an Anker USB 3.0 gigabit Ethernet adapter (see separate review) and it works perfectly. Comes with an eighteen month warranty and quality packaging inclusive of printed instruction manual and welcome card. Another happy shopping experience.

The USB 3.0 extension port works as described.

I think the cable could be a little longer & more flexible.
