5.0 out of 5 stars Keep this one handy! 16 April 2012
This is one book in my collection that will get dog-eared! What a tremendous resource. I started underlining and making notes in the margin on the very first page. It's chock full of useful information for anyone working from home. I've been working freelance for almost 5 years now and it was still a goldmine for me, and also reminded me of some tried and true methods that had fallen by the wayside. I especially like the recap of resources and the case studies at the end of each chapter (my favorite one was for Market Samurai). You do need some knowledge of online marketing to understand what he's talking about in most of the book but if you're a newbie and really keen, there's enough examples and guidance for you to learn as you go.

Thanks Nick and Graham for an amazing resource!

4.0 out of 5 stars Reinventing the wheel 14 Mar 2012
As inventions go, the laptop is right up there with the wheel. For its handy size gives people the opportunity to operate their own business from wherever they happen to be. Park, beach, cafe, your office is a mobile one. Along with case studies of other successful cyber impressarios, co-authors Graham Hunt and Nick Snelling offer a nuts-and-bolts guide to making your website stand out in a crowded marketplace. Have you ever sat in a beach cafe and wondered if people really can make a living from such a location. I've been doing so for around seven years. I wish when I started I had access to this book.

Everything you need to know to start to use the Internet to earn money is contained within the book's covers. There are seven main chapters, plus and overview, and sections providing to essential resources.

The case studies are informative. The authors clearly know their material, but they don't hype how easy it is to make money using a laptop, which as one who knows what it takes, I find reassuring.

I would have liked to see more case studies, and I'm sure the authors have cautionary anecdotes they might have shared to add pace to what is essentially a step-by-step how-to do-it manual.

Basically, you can trust this book. Follow it and you will get somewhere, maybe not next week, but certainly this year :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for a diverse audience 6 Jan 2012
There are many, many valid reasons why someone might want to start a business from home. They may want to earn an additional income, they may want to escape the rat race and become their own boss, they may be fed up of the commute to the city every day, they may be disabled, or have caring responsibilities and it makes sense to work from home. Whatever the reason, this book cuts to the chase, taking the reader by the hand through the minefield of working from a lap top at home, safely and with easy to follow guidelines. There is much advice around on entrepreneurship, but little to match this. Well worth reading and, more importantly, implementing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A useful tool for internet business beginners 6 Jan 2012
One of the problems with so many books about starting and running online businesses is that they assume too much prior knowledge on the part of the reader. In Laptop Entrepreneur, however, the critical basics are explained simply and thoroughly so that even someone entering the online business arena for the first time will understand and feel comfortable with the whole thing. A very useful internet business "starter pack" and well worth reading whatever your level of cyberknowhow.

5.0 out of 5 stars The kick-ass guide to working online 3 Jan 2012
Working online isn't as easy as people think, the authors do a great job in advising and being realistic. Although the book says you can make a living anywhere in the world, you don't have to be an expat to benefit from the knowledge imparted here.

What I find really cool is both of the authors are living the life they map out. So many online gurus make money from selling how to make money, the fact these guys apply their internet marketing skills to their business rather than selling hype is to their credit.
