Absolutely piggin' brilliant!,

This review is from: Lanky Spoken Here (Audio CD)
This is a comic legend in Lancashire. A collection of Lancashire comedy and folk stars (such as Fivepenny Piece, Bernard -the Bolton Bullfrog - Wrigley and Bob Williamson) gathered one night in deepest Leigh (Leyth as it is known locally) and produced this masterpiece, surprisingly aided by EMI who have brought out this CD 25 years after original LP was made because people kept asking for it.Based on the very funny Lanky Spoken Here book by comedy writer and Coronation Street actor Dave Dutton, it gives a flavour of Lancashire sayings and expressions - some rude - which encapsulate the dry tongue-in-cheek humour of the county.Equally funny are the po-faced English translations by the BBC's Bob Dougall and Sheila Tracey. There are also some catchy songs on the CD. Anyone Northern (and Southern jessies with a sense of humour) will absolutely crease themselves listening to it. My LP was just about worn out. Thank goodness they've brought this out.
