I used this guide on holiday in 2002. On the plus-side it did lead me to explore towns and villages that I would probably otherwise have omitted from my schedule, which would have been my loss. The information provided is detailed, and useful if you want local history. On the down-side all the information on the towns and villages is referenced alphabetically, rather than by area. So, if you want to find out about the villages around Narbonne, for example, you will need to consult a map and look up each village separately, which is obviously time consuming and not something you feel like after a nice afternoon in a village cafe!
The contents include an introduction to the region, list of sights, practical information, thematic maps, town plans, monuments and sights and regional touring maps.
All in, not really suitable if it's the only book you are taking, but for more detailed information or if you already know the area, very useful

3.0 out of 5 stars Green Guide 8 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback
Michelin are trying too hard to compete with other guides, such as Lonely Planet. The inclusion of Restaurant and Hotel recomendations greatly increases the weight of a book designed to be carried, reduces space for the information really needed and goes out of date so fast. They should stick to their proven, clear format allowing easy identificaton of places to visit with sights to be seen. Buy the Red Guide for places to eat and stay.
The identification on inset maps of listed strets and places remains difficult, and it would be good if the location of towns etc listed alphabetically were more friendly - the reference to the Michelin maps is too cumbersome.
Another reviewer commented that although this is the latest edition the information is well out of date because the spectacular Millau Bridge isn't even mentioned, not even as a project. I may have missed it, but I couldn't find a publication date or a statement that the info was "as at such and such a date".
Just the same I'm a great fan of the Green Guides, and hate to see an old friend being seduced from its true path.

1.0 out of 5 stars too late 4 Sep 2011

The book arrived too late (and well after the committed date)and we were already in France but without a guide book, in spite of reassurances that it would arrive in time. We will be returning it.
