2.0 out of 5 stars Not Quite The Appropriate Information, 6 Sep 1999
By A Customer
I must admit, the introduction was by the far the best nine pages included in this book. I shared all of the author's 'dreams' covered within the introduction, only to be lead into a second rate history of Great Britain. Each of the towns/cities visited along the way were given a BRIEF historic review, not particularly relevant to the touring cyclist embarking on this mammoth trek. The maps were a little confusing and one must ask oneself if using two different shades of red for routes and major highways was a wise choice. Overall I have come to the conclusion that there was not enough relevant information in this text.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book but....., 5 May 2004
By M C Stevens (Runcorn, Cheshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I used this book back in 2000 to do end to end and found the book very useful. I did not have any other reference material and soley used this book - i found my way!!!
I did get lost a couple of times and had to ask so abit more detail either side of the route would have been useful but in general the book takes a scenic route (e.g. Isle of Arran) and is plesant and gives some information along the way.
But remember - Cornwall is the hardest part so dont get disheartened in the first 3 days of the ride!

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful if supplemented w/ 3 miles/inch AA maps, 3 Jul 2001
By A Customer
As Yanks, we found this a useful approach to doing the End-to-End. It gave us a bit of an idea as to what we could expect each day. However, we supplemented it with pages torn from a 3 miles to the inch AA Road Atlas. In the larger cities we had trouble finding the routes on some bikepaths and ended up getting on an A road as the quickest way out.
