2013 SECOND EDITION Tired from going abroad on holiday and realising just how little he knew about the country he lived in, Sean decided to take a month off, buy a bike and cycle the iconic Land's End to John O'Groats, solo and unsupported. Sean faced cold night in, wet days out, and nearly a month of his own thoughts while he had the adventure of a lifetime cycling through Britain. "Every adventure cyclist needs to cycle around Britain. There is just so much to experience. If I had not done this ride then I probably wouldn't be where I am today."
Sean Conway is an ultra endurance athlete and self confessed nutter and seems to take pleasure in hurting himself physically and mentally through various forms of challenges. He started his endurance adventures with a mile swim across a lake at the age of 10 and then again at 12. Sean then took to another water-sport and throughout his teens he competed in many endurance kayak (K1 & K2) marathons. Amongst many other challenges Sean is mostly recognised for climbing Kilimanjaro dressed as a penguin and more recently cycling 16,000 miles through 6 continents in 116 days and doing most of it with a fractured spine after getting run over by a truck in America. His never-give-up attitude captured the imagination of thousands and is now giving talks about setting your goals high, challenging yourself and overcoming tough times.
