4.0 out of 5 stars Useful, comprehensive, important but a dry read 29 Jun 2010
Format:Paperback
I am recommending this book with 4-stars because of the importance of the topic. And that the subject matter - landing page optimisation - is such a powerful technique in the web marketing toolkit.

However, I did find the book hard going and a bit of a dry read.

Landing pages are the workhorses of online conversion. Drive your visitor(s) to an effective landing page (where they arrive at your site from their previous action e.g. click through from Google) and you're half-way to a sale or other 'visitor conversion'.

Unfortunately, and rather surprisingly, many website owners don't think this way nor do they construct their landing pages very well.

This is where Tim's book comes in.

In it, he describes (in enormous detail) all of the elements of an effective landing page: from understanding and profiling your visitor, building value, understanding the decision process to creating desire and encouraging action. He also talks about testing in (very) great detail and even getting the various members of your web team on board.

So, if you're thinking about improving the conversion rates on your site (and you should be) then get this book. But if you're looking for an engaging and enjoyable read then check out the 'Top Ten Bestselling novels' on Amazon...

An easy read, summarises techniques and can be used to help design new or review existing web designs.

Yet to implement my plan to improve an existing site although can recommend the product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of insightful information 19 Sep 2011
Format:Paperback
A good guide to the key subject areas of landing page optimisation. A bit heavy on theory and light on solid winning examples. Missing lots of great recent tools that have made optimisation much easier recently.
