Reviews

Ken Annakin directs this World War Two drama based on a novel by Nevil Shute. Michael Denison stars as Rick, a young RAF pilot patrolling the English Channel for U-Boats. When he sinks what he believes to be a German submarine, it later turns out to be British and he is charged with neglect. In order to clear his name and prove his worth, he volunteers to lead a dangerous mission. Meanwhile, his girlfriend Mona (Patricia Plunkett) fights to prove that Rick is innocent of the charges made against him.

"LANDFALL" Yet another WW11 RAF story, a bit far fetched as far as the technology is concerned but never the less a good yarn and all those Ansons took me back. David Tomlinson was not as big a buffoon as he portrayed he was actually a RAF serving officer flying Hurricanes.

As a Nevil Shute fan I found this production reasonably faithful to the book and good entertainment. It's great pity that more of Nevil Shute's book were not filmed. Dated but, for those who remember something of those times, good value.

The movie, while an oldie, is entertaining and gives a good overview of the book by Nevil Shutte upon which it is based.

Anyone who has an interest in movies of this era will not be disappointed.

Enjoy!!

This film is almost word for word from the book and very enjoyable it was too, a bit on the old fashioned side and in black and white but what does that matter when you've got a good story?

Based on one of the late Nevil Shute's novels this one sticks close to the book on which it based. Would like to see this on television also.

Based on a Neville Shute novel this adaption is very watchable, well acted by a cast of British stalwart actors if looking a little dated.

A well filmed version of Neville Shute Norways original story. I enjoyed it thoroughly, even the 1940's style special effects were entertaining.
