Amy Speace is a Rising Star... --USA Today

If you bemoan the lack of solid singer-songwriters in the folk world who can bridge inner turmoil with universal experience, Speace is just what you need to hear. --Washington Post

Saw Amy Speace live at the Musician in Leicester not knowing what to expect as she was a support act. As soon as she started singing I was captivated although she admits her lyrics can be sad. Sang most of the songs from this album and they are almost as good on CD as they were live, my preference. Can compare to many great female singers, playing semi-acoustic but she has her own style. A great addition to any collection

A singer songwriter you may not have heard of... but should. 25 May 2011
By Steve Ramm - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
A singer songwriter you may not have heard of... but should.

Amy Speace is one of those Nashville-based singer/songwriters that you hear about from a friend or, if you are lucky enough to have a non-commercial radio station in your area that plays her albums, you heard on the radio. She seems to fly below the radar of many "programmed" AAA-format stations and isn't quite enough "country" for Country Radio. But she's worth discovering and writes some wonderful songs. She's a darn good performer too - I've seen her at least four times.

This, her newest album, shows her continued growth. There are upbeat numbers ("Drive All Night", the opener) and slower story songs ("Ghost"). She wrote, or co-wrote, nearly all the songs. There's a co-write (the title track) with Canadian Jonathan Byrd and another song ( "Galbraith Street"), composed by another great Canadian songwriter: Ron Sexsmith.

If I have one complaint, it is with the packaging. There is a booklet with all the song lyrics. But the minuscule typeface requires a magnifying glass to read these easily. ( The acknowledgement page type size is twice that of the lyrics.). Granted this is a pet peeve of mine but Speace's words are important enough to allow the consumer to read them..

So, if you know Speace's music, I think you'll be happy with this album. If you haven't discovered her yet, this is a good time. Then YOU can tell YOUR friends about her. (and the chain goes on....)

She's done it again folks... 1 April 2011

Amy Speace has long been a staple in the Nashville songwriting community and this album continues that tradition. Her magical folk style of music makes my ears very happy. Land Like A Bird is a fabulous display of songwriting and talent by this wonderful artist!

Saw her in concert 18 July 2013

Her concerts are better than her CD's. She has an edge to her...interesting...but nothing I couldn't live without. OKAY if you like this sort of thing.
