The Lancs Bible,

At last, the new guide book (or should I say coffee table, given its size!) for Lancs is here. It is a very comprehensive guide, with some excellent features but one or two odd points. The major grit quarries (Anklezarke, Wilton etc) are very well covered and the grades and descripions of the routes in general is very good. The graded list makes for good reading (why is King Of Kings E6 6b/c not a the top of the list when it would get a French grade of 7c/7c+ ?). The limestone areas in the north produce one major oddity - english grades as well as french at Chapel Head Scar. As the majority of these routes are sport climbs then the english grade is redundant - a minor gripe. All told this is a well written guide, which will hopefully produce a increase in interest in this somewhat neglected area of British climbing.
