No Blade included 10 Sep 2010
Delivery was quick and I ordered on here rather than direct as postage is more buying direct
Be aware all you are buying is the little metal handle to slip the Razor Blade on blades are not included but you can pick them up at your local supermarket for about 70p for 10 for shops own unless you think paying more will get you a better cut?!

The product consists simply of a flat strip of metal 5mm wide and 120mm long, pointed at one end. There is no handle, but it doesn't really need one. It requires an old-fashioned safety razor to be threaded onto it. It therefore holds the razor blade in a curved posture. It's a good idea to use razor blades as you're guaranteed a very sharp cut. Of course, razor blades are a lot sharper than kitchen knives, so it makes a pretty good job of slashing the dough, though a bit of practice is needed to get the knack.

I found, as other reviewers have noted, that sometimes the blade comes off while I'm slashing the dough, as there is nothing other than the tension produced by the blade's curve to hold it on. For such a simple, single strip of metal, a price of £4.25 is rather high. Still, it does the job reasonably well so I'll persevere with it to see if there's a knack to preventing the blade from falling off.

Pretty poor value 31 Dec 2011
By TC
Hate to sound ungrateful, as it was bought as a present, but even at four quid this is pretty over-priced. For your money, you get a three inch-long strip of metal with a point at the end. Once you've bought the razor blades to attach to it, you thread the metal through the holes in the blades.

In use it was even more underwhelming. The razor blade is so flexible that it's hard to get enough pressure on the bread to cut to a decent depth. And the way that it is attached to the handle means that there's a slight curve in the blade, which seems to make it impossible to make a straight cut.

It might be that there's a knack to it, but until I get that knack, I'd put this on the "don't bother" list.
