Relevant and helpful

This book was extremely informative and helped me have a smooth, uncomplicated, drug-free delivery. While some of it may seem old-fashioned, the information on Lamaze techniques was thorough and accurate. It also included many illustrations and tips for practicing the techniques beforehand. While it didn't take away the pain of childbirth, the knowledge and techniques I gained by reading this book gave me the confidence to attempt a drug free delivery and reduced my fear during the whole process.

Lamaze is for Chickens

I have one of the origional books, copyrighted 1975. We used it for our son and daughter's births, 1977 & 1979. I just pulled it our of the filing cabinet and will give it to my son for the preparation for his childs birth in April 2011.
A pleasure to read, informative and thorough

We are preparing for our second child and this book was recommended to us by a friend. Granted, it is written a while ago, but the concepts are still relevant and true. It is evident the authors have personal experience of natural childbirth and parenting, which is refreshing compared to other books on childbirth written by people in the medical field. Even if an expectant parent is planning on attempting a natural childbirth or not, this book contains many helpful ideas to calm the parent-to-be or be-again. We especially enjoyed the section on welcoming more children into the family, it is written as one mom to another; a pleasure to read.
