5.0 out of 5 stars Best Violin Solo I ever heard! 27 Jun 1999
By ihargraves@usa.net - Published on Amazon.com
I owned a vinyl long playing record of this artists interpretation of this superb composer over 20 years ago. It got lost and I have been trying to replace it ever since that time. If you enjoy violins this is without a shadow of a doubt the most superb recording of Carmen ever! I would have traded 50 LP records to get it. Now it is available on CD. An answer to a prayer!! Buy this with caution, you will never be satisfied by another rendition of Carmen and Havanaise.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a simply top rate of the Carmen from Sarasate-Bizet! 2 Aug 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
I have known this real fine violin music since I was 27 years old(Now 45). Meanwhile, I purchased 3 same cassettes but never find out its CD-version. Finally I did it from Amazon! Frankly, I purchase sevral similar players music of the same song but never satisfied except Sara Chang. But her interpretation is a little bit different. The feeling of this recording is energetic and luxiourious yet heart beat passion. I proudly recommend this if you really like Carmen!

5.0 out of 5 stars Emblematic and definitive recordings! 14 Aug 2012
By Hiram Gomez Pardo - Published on Amazon.com
Ruggiero Ricci (1918-2012) made of these recordings a classic in its own. Nevertheless, his mercurial gifts never covers the unerring expression, peerless brightness and sumptuous lyricism.

Pierino Gamba is over the top at the front of tyhe London Philharmonic. I got this album in LP format (and precisely this was the album in which Ricci signed his autograph).

As you may guess, this album means to me much more than a vibrant rendition. I acquired it later on CD format and so the cycle has ended.

Ricci was the last survivor of a brilliant generation of violinists during the two first decades of the past century.

Go for it. Maestro Ricci: In memoriam!!!
