Product Description

If you trust your heart, you'll always know who you are...

Each summer, Kate Livingston returns to her family's lakeside cottage, a
place of simple living and happy times--a place where she hopes her son, Aaron, can blossom. But her quiet life gets a bit more interesting with
the arrival of a mysterious new neighbor, JD Harris.

JD has a good reason for being secretive. In a moment of sheer bravery, the Washington, D.C., paramedic prevented a terrible tragedy--and became a
national hero. He's hardly able to remember who he was before the media frenzy...until he escapes to this lovely, remote part of the Northwest.

Now Kate and Aaron have rekindled the joy of small pleasures and peace, something JD thought he'd never have again. But how long will his blissful anonymity last before reality comes banging at his door?

If you trust your heart, you'll always know who you are.

More About the Author

I like to believe I am the person my dogs think I am.

I phone my parents every day, as they are elderly and adorable, and they read me stories every day of my freakishly normal childhood. I was a writer before I learned to read, by creating scribbles on paper and dictating the stories to my saintly mother. You can see examples here:

Untold eons later, I still read and write everyday and I've gotten very good at it. I live in a ridiculously gorgeous place in the world--an island in Puget Sound, Washington where we have a lot of the same flowers you grow in the UK. But bigger slugs. Much bigger slugs.

I have lots more to tell you, so please join me on Facebook and check out pictures of my dogs and tell me what's on your mind.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not as good as others 28 Aug 2006
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a good novel, but in my opinion not as good as her other contemporary novels. The heroine is a bit too needy and desparate for a good man and the hero a bit too unbending and one dimentional. As ever with Wiggs contemporary novels, it is about exploring relationships.

Special Forces paramedic, J D Harris, saves the life of the President of the USA and nearly loses his own life in the process. He is heralded as a hero by the media and by the army recruiting offices, the latter using him in a poster recruiting campaign. He is hounded by the media and the public alike. Women even going to the extent of injuring themselves in the hope that he will be the paramedic called out to them. Eventually, on digging deeper, the media discover that his mother is a recovering alcoholic (an alcoholic parent seems to be a recurring theme in Wigg's books). Their hounding of her sends her back into alcoholism.

J D decides that he has had enough and goes to stay incognito at his friend's house at the lake. There he meets Kate Livingston, the single parent of a hyper nine year old boy. There is also Callie, a teenager with a past, who Kate takes pity on an allows to stay with her at Kate's family's house at the lake.

Kate is desparate for a real loving relationship with a man, but has always had bad luck in the past. She and J D are attracted to each other, but he is wary of getting involved and wary of telling her anything about himself, especially when she tells him that she was a reporter before being made redundant.

Eventually, the media find out about the romance, start to hound Kate and suggest that Callie is a drug addict, which she isn't. So Kate finds out first hand, what it is like being on the other side of the newsprint.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nothing to do with The Lakeshore Chronicles 1 Nov 2013
By Jane
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book thinking it was a pre-cursor to the Lakeshore Chronicles. It's not.
It's a stand-alone book which was thoroughly enjoyable but with the same find love, lose love, regain love, happy ever after storyline.
