I found this book to be an excellent introduction to the keeping of Lake Tanganyikan cichlids. It offers a short history of the lake and its conditions. The author then describes the environment one is required to provide to keep the many species, including descriptions of common ailments. The largest part of the book is devoted to descriptions and full colour photographs of many of the species found in the lake and available from the aquarist trade. The book is targeted at the novice Tanganyikan keeper and those looking for reams of detail should look elsewhere. It stands out, however, by balancing sufficient detail and common sense with an stupidly affordable price.
