Product Description

Product Description

Not only does this guide tell you where to fish, it also tells you where to obtain permits and licences, where to buy fishing tackle, which baits to try and even how to stay safe at the water's edge. The new "Lake District Anglers' Guide" is by far the most comprehensive guide to fishing in the area that has ever been produced. Listed in detail are the numerous fishing opportunities that exist on 47 rivers and streams and over 100 still waters scattered throughout this beautiful area. Maps help you find the day-ticket waters with a minimum of fuss. Much of the fishing in Cumbria is controlled by angling clubs. Membership details of 50 are listed. Some are big, some small, some exclusive and some not. Amongst the entries you will find exactly what you are looking for. Again with visitors in mind, the guide includes a section listing 27 fishing tackle outlets. It tells you where to find them, when they are open, the type of tackle and bait they stock and, of course, the club season and temporary membership permits they sell.

About the Author

Laurence Tetley was born in the Yorkshire Dales and has fished extensively throughout Yorkshire, the Lake District and Cumbria for most of his life. Recently he wrote The Yorkshire Dales Anglers' Guide and he has now used his extensive knowledge of the area to produce this sister publication. He knows the sport intimately and has also fished in distant waters. During a spell in the Merchant Navy he cast a line as far afield as Australia, South Africa and Canada. He has also lived in Southampton where, during a period as Principal Lecturer at the Institute of Higher Education, he found time to write The Central Southern Angling Guide. He is now retired and lives once again in the Yorkshire Dales.
