France released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Mono ), French ( Mono ), WIDESCREEN (2.35:1), SPECIAL FEATURES: Biographies, Filmographies, Interactive Menu, Making Of, Photo Gallery, Scene Access, Teaser(s), SYNOPSIS: In this comedy, Louis de Funes is a top restaurant critic, the head of an important French culinary guide. At the beginning of the film, he and his son (Coluche) are at odds, as the son prefers working as a circus clown to studying the fine arts of gastronomy. The two join forces, however, to thwart the greedy owner of a chain of inferior restaurants, who plans to take over the finest restaurants in France and substitute his formulaic fodder for real cooking. Another lure bringing the son into the picture is a lovely secretary working for the guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic quality Gallic humour, 25 Mar 2011

Abit dated now but the top 1960-70s french comic talent at work and a tour de force!

The plot is a worth french one too: Gastronimic Connesseur, snob and restaurant critic training up an unwilling son to replace him, using a few tricks for motivation. Comes unstuck both at the hands of vengeful de-starred chefs and the Fast-food industry....

The denoument on a taste-off chat show will stay with you as an all time great comic moment. But for the language barrier it would be wider known

5.0 out of 5 stars Question?, 12 Sep 2010
This review is from: L'aile Ou La Cuisse [DVD] (DVD)
Can anybody tell me whether this film is dubbed in English or has English subtitles or is in French and has dubbed option on English or subtitles on English or.....?

I have watched this film in original French with Serbian subtitles and I rely enjoyed it! I would really like to show this film to my friends in UK, but with the original humour of Luis de Funes....It saddens me immensely when I can't find any of his films with English subtitles!? In Europe he is considered one of the greatest comedians of 20th century!!
