Amazon.co.uk Review

One of the remarkable things about making an animated sequel is that actors don't age. It took Disney 46 years to make a sequel to its 1955 hit Lady and the Tramp, yet the events of this made-for-video sequel take place only six months later. Lady and Tramp are getting along fine with their human family, the Darlings, and they have four new puppies. The three girl puppies take after mum, the boy, Scamp, has a lot of dad in him. Scamp dreams of "being a real dog", and that means living on the street as a member of the Junkyard Dogs. Despite his dad's warnings, Scamp (voiced by Scott Wolf) runs off and goes through the trials of a mutt, including run-ins with Junkyard leader Buster (Chazz Palminteri); the dogcatcher (Don Knotts); and a fellow stray, Angel (Alyssa Milano). The formula here is the same as other Disney direct-to-video sequels for The Lion King and The Little Mermaid, and the justification to return to a classic movie is flimsy at best. To its credit, Disney has made a quality effort in the animation department, adapting sets and characters from the original with great success. But the story is never engaging, the songs are forgettable, and the impact unsustainable (and at 62 minutes, quite trite). Nevertheless, a Disney kid should dig Scamp's rough-and-tumble adventures and the cute tale of puppy love (Scamp and Angel even revisit the Italian diner). --Doug Thomas, Amazon.com

From the Back Cover

From the impeccable pedigree of Disney's beloved classic Lady And The Tramp comes an all-new story - told with the same stunning animation, charming musical style and purebred fun.

Along with their well-behaved girl puppies, Land and Tramp are busy raising mischievous Scamp - who's always in the doghouse. Longing for freedom, Scamp ventures far from home and meets a lovely, reluctant stray named Angel. She introduces him to the Junkyard Dpgs, led by streetwise Buster. When Buster challenges Scamp to the ultimate test of a collar-free life, Scamp finds himself torn between a world of adventure and love for the family he's left behind.

All-new music plus a cast of cherished original characters and irresistible new charmers make this heartwarming tale a whole new breed of Disney magic.

Dog-Tastic! 4 Nov 2002
Format:VHS Tape
Lady and the Tramp two is the best! It is really good, and the animation is brilliant. It makes a big empression on yourself after you finish watching it. What is that person on the other review on about? It does so say the names of Lady and Tramp's three girl puppies! Look at the credits! Annette, Colette and Danielle! Love the characters and the songs are wonderful and perfect for all the family! It makes you feel wanted and learn
to appreciate your family, not just take them for granted.

*&* Love it! It's definatly better the Little Mermaid 2

For kids of any age! 16 Mar 2001
Format:VHS Tape
At 47 years old, I am one of the original Lady & The Tramp kids! I was completely sold on the original movie and was really excited (if a little apprehensive) when I saw the sequel had been released. The apprehension vanished as soon as I'd finished watching the DVD. All the wonder of the original film has been lovingly and professionally preserved with all the original characters (except for Peg, the pound hound) still alive and kicking. The new characters are equally as fresh and exciting as the originals. If anything lets the film down it's the music. The score doesn't match up to the original at all but at least the songs do extend the storyline rather than just pop up for no apparent reason. The strong moral theme of the movie is the importance of the family unit which can only be good to teach kids of today or anytime. The extra features on the DVD are superb with an interactive game (and prize movies!) which can actually be played on the TV screen for a change. Well worth the money and produced in the style of the original Disney masterpiece. Surely nobody could be disappointed with this one....there again......
