Product Description

Dear Reader, Some people grow up wanting to be lion tamers or astronauts. I've always wanted to be a writer. One day, during a slow afternoon at my day job, I thought: What would I write? Inspiration struck . . . an earl who fell in love with a spy! And thus "Lady Rogue" was born. Christine "Kit" Brantley is masquerading as a boy because her mission is to spy on Alexander Cale, the Earl of Everton. It doesn't take long for Alex to see through her disguise. Who would mistake this enchanting, albeit cheeky, chit for a lad? Alex is determined to discover the real reason Kit is in London, but as he's dragged into one escapade after another, he finds himself succumbing to her charm and spirit. I love this book, and I love the new package. In my mind it's a depiction of the first time Kit puts on a ball gown, and the way Alex Cale feels when he first sees her as a lady . . . Ah, me, now I'm getting sentimental. Enjoy! Suzanne Enoch P.S. Oh, and "Lady Rogue" also marks the debut of Mr. Francis Henning, who's made an appearance in every historical I've written since.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read 20 Jan 2010
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The story starts off with Kit aka Christine Brantley posing as a boy to help her father find who is stopping his smuggling. She is left at Earl of Everton to find out what she can. The Earl, Alex Cale, is nobodys fool and figures out she is not a boy but decides to keep her secret for a while. He is drawn to her but does not know why. They go thru one scrape to the next with Kit challenging everything he tell her to do and of course doing what she wants too. Kit fights the feeling she is having for Alex and know that there will be no future for them. Alex has a diffrent opinion of what they can have and try to figure out how to convince Kit.
Through out the story you fall in love with both these charaters and cant help feel what she might be feeling.
This book was one of my first reads by Suzanne Enoch however it will not be my last. She is creative and bring life to her story with detail and feeling anyone to grasp. I could not put this book down. I highly recomend this book to anyone who love historical novels!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great night time read 21 Jan 2011

I am quite a big fan of Suzanne Enoch and have read quite a few of her books. I did originally find Lady Rogue hard to get into but after a chapter or two I was hooked.

You easily fall in love with the characters, even though the storyline can appear a slight stretch of the imagination. The story is quite out there but I don't think the chemistry between our two main leads would be the same without it.

Our heroine is no shrinking violet and her rebelious nature is a breath of fresh air at times.

Was one of my earlier books I read by this author and will certainly not be the last.

4.0 out of 5 stars enchanting love story despite the spy angle 9 Dec 2012
By reader
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Although you would think the spy genre would be jaded by now, this story is a refreshing and enchanting love story. Okay suspension of reality is required as people don't just appear in supposed english high society and get accepted.

Anyway the heroine of the story is a young lady in disguise "Kit" who has been masquerading as a boy for most of her 19 years. She comes to London to supposedly ferret out whomever is stopping the shipment of contraband goods to the french (on behalf of her father).

Once in London, she manages to get herself accepted into the Earl of Evenden "Alex's" household supposedly as a debt owing to Kit's father from the previous Earl (slightly incredulous but suspension of implausible required). She takes on the role as his male cousin. Note that Alex does find out very early on in the book that Kit is female in disguise.

Without being overtly sexual, its little scene stealers which make this a sensual story worth reading. For example: where Kit is standing in the park (in her disguise as a boy) and is confronted by her cousin Alex on horseback and he lifts her up behind him on his horse and she shifts closer to him to smell his scent and puts here arm around his firm flat stomach to suport herself. Or where Kit is being fitted out for a suit and is being measured by a tailor, whilst Alex plays chaperone and looks on....its the power of the mind which provides the erotica.

Also little gems like naming the horses in the story from Romeo and Juliet ie Tybalt, Mercutio and Benvolio....priceless

Anyway I could read this one over and over and would definitely recommend a purchase.
