Book Description

18 Feb 2010

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, better know as Lady Gaga, was always destined to be different. She was a talented musician as a child, learning piano at age 4, and writing her first ballad at age of 13. But she turned her back on the world of typical teenage girls, instead running off to party hard, make friends with gogo dancers and drag queens, much to the despair of her parents. But she was a born performer, and destined to be on the stage, no matter what.

Forget the fake, wannabee starlets who become famous overnight just because some record company exec thinks they can make a ton of money - Gaga earned her success the hard way, working night after night at sleazy bars and clubs, performing at every club in New York, getting booed offstage - and then finding herself - as a singer, a dancer, a performer - as an artist.

She's shocked the public with her crazy outfits, individual sense of style and headstrong manner. This is one girl who says what she thinks, and doesn't care if you like it or not. She's sold millions of records, performed to millions of people and won hearts with her brashness and honesty.

And now, she's just trying to change the world - one sequin at a time. Here, read the incredible story of the artist that is Lady Gaga. It's Fierce!

3.0 out of 5 stars difficult to keep my attention 15 Mar 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I struggled to finish this book - I found it an extremely bland read and more geared towards the younger reader. It is full of quotes from various media and it jumped back and forth. I am a huge fan of Lady gaga and her music so was disappointed - I would have preferred to have read her auto biography so hope she does make the decision to write one day!

This is a biography by Helia Phoenix hard cover edition consisting of 243 pages including colored photos, live Lady Gaga quotes, and much detailed in-depth look inside the heart and soul of Lady Gaga. Chronologically going through the ups and downs along the way to super stardom. With discussion on her Fame Ball Tour, Monster Ball Tour, videos, music career, sales, family life, beginnings as a child, and insight into her romances.

While other books give a much more analytical approach to her love life and acquaintances this one takes a more hands on [what you probably have already heard] approach. It will give you much biographical information already heard before but will add other great information. Such as, the Lady Gaga moments, and times when things weren't so perfect as one of her dancers is injured and taken to the hospital in a show, it talks about the Christina Aguilera debate and the rumors about her being a hermaphrodite. Also, mentioning other artists such as Beyonce, Britney Spears, Madonna, and Kanye West.

The parts of the book I enjoyed the most are the sections I read stuff I did not know about. The Kanye West parts were very new to me. In addition, the discussions of her performances with details helped me as I love to collect all of her shows on DVD. I did not know she did a performance at Club G-A-Y to name one. A very popular club where Madonna has performed as well. I also enjoyed the author's view points and style as it is very different from the other biographies I read. This also has talk on the shows were Lady Gaga opened mentioning the Pussycat Dolls. It goes into much emphasis on her acts and the gigs she did including the Fame Ball Tour. It ends with the Monster Ball Tour being mentioned as the tour being an experience fans will never forget.

3.0 out of 5 stars wish gaga would write her own book 5 Jun 2010
Format:Hardcover
mixed feelings about this book, seemed to be a lot of press reviews, like the author had gathered lots of information from all over the place, then created the book. like i felt gaga was not involved in it, felt it was o brief about stuff, knew alot of the stff i read about her, did not go deep into her character enough. like seemed did not get to close to what gaga is really like, seemed restricted to me. love gaga to write her own book one day. its ok
