Book Description

Jan 2003
With the smashing success of Lord of Fire and Lord of Ice, Gaelen Foley has confirmed her place as one of historical romance's hottest talents. Now with Lady of Desire, a sizzling tale in which a fiery young temptress tames the king of thieves, she delivers her most enthralling - and smoldering - novel yet. . . .

Impetuous Lady Jacinda Knight is the daughter of a scandalous woman. Though society predicts she'll follow in her mother's footsteps, the spirited beauty stands unashamed of her passionate nature. Then one night, in flight from a safe but loveless marriage arranged by her strict older brother, Jacinda finds herself alone on a dark and dangerous street face-to-face with Billy Blade, the notorious leader of a band of thieves. His stolen kisses awaken in her a longing for a man she can never possess.

A handsome scoundrel running from a secret past, Billy Blade has never met a woman like Jacinda - her fiery innocence and blossoming sensuality set his rebel's heart ablaze. Having turned his back on the privilege and power of his tyrannical father's house years before, he vows to return to his rightful place and reclaim his title, Earl of Rackford - to win the love of the ravishing beauty who has stolen his heart . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting and Romantic 23 Jan 2003
By Ms. C. M. Winton VINE™ VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is the forth book in the Knight family series and is just as good as the others. This one is the story of Lady Jacinda Knight and Billy Blade who you may remember from Lord of Ice.

Jacinda the only daughter of a scandalous women noted for her many lovers is determined not to follow in her mother's footsteps but that does not mean that she will marry where her family tells her to. She decides to runaway. However things go wrong when she is robbed and lead into an allyway in the streets of London. There she wittnesses a brutal street fight and comes face to face with the well known scoundrel Billy Blade.

Blade has lived half his life on the streets and has never seen anything as beautiful as Jacinda. He is drawn to her against his will but even theifs have honour and he knows that dispite her protests he has to return her to her family. However once she is gone he can not stop thinking about her and walks stright into a trap set up by his enemies. Thiefs and criminals fate is normally to hang but he knows only one way out and that is to make a devils bargin. He must now enter Jacinda's world against his will and dispite thier past Jacinda decides to help him fit in. But can he win this lady's heart or is she still to far out of his reach.

The first half of this book was brilliant. I loved the discription of the rookery life in the dark streets of London. Blade was the leader of one gang even when leaving the rookery he was determined to kill his rivel. The second half of the book was more what you expect from historical romance showing you the glittering world of the ton. I like Gaelen Foley's Lady of Desire as it show you a different side to London in the early 1800's. She doesn't seperate the two worlds of the rich and poor but blends them togetner to make an exciting and romantic tale.

The only female member of the Knight family gets her own book...

You have to suspend your disbelief a little to accept the premise of a book which has a lady fall for a thief - and a thief who is more than he seems at that. However, once you do this is terrific fun and fairly zips along...

Also found this more light-hearted than the author usually is but it does have an interesting setting amid the Regency underworld of criminal gangs.

I have just finished this book and wanted to say it was wonderful.
Its refreshing to read more of the male character's feelings. The tale of Billy Blade and Jacinda Knight is the 4th in the Knight series and again Gaelen Foley has written a great story.
