It took me several years before I saw this wonderful movie in full; I was probably about 36 when I finally did. One of the aspects of this lovely movie that stood out was the classic romantic score for this Disney film.
The songs, especially the Main Title (later heard as 'Bella Notte' and played by the restaurant owner)are marvelous. They almost seem to be written in the same kind of classic style of Disney films as those from 'Snow White' and 'Cinderella'. Another favorite, however, is the great 'Siamese Cat Song', depicting the ill-mannered antics of those two diabolical cats, Si and Am - arguably the most fiendish felines ever to walk across a movie screen. The score, for the most part, is written in a romantic style appropriate to the story; in places it has lively bursts of strings & percussion (most notably when Lady tries to put a stop to the dirty tricks of the cats).
A wonderful Disney score, not on the same scale as 'Cinderella' or 'Snow White', but marvelous just the same.
