Product Description

Product Description

Ladislaw Starewicz is regarded as one of the greatest animators of all time. A master of stop-motion animation, he has been compared with Melies, Emile Cohl and Walt Disney. He made almost a hundred films during his long career from 1909 to his death in 1965. Collected here are five films: 'The Cameraman's Revenge' (1911), 'Town Rat, Country Rat' (1926), 'The Mascot' (1934), 'Love In Black And White' (1927) and 'The Tale Of The Fox' (1930-1).

5.0 out of 5 stars Dazzling Retrospect by Animation Pioneer 3 April 2001
By A Customer
The works of Ladislaw Starewicz, while well known and highly regarded by animation afficianados, are all too seldom made avalable for public veiwing. This video compilation (one of 2 available worldwide) is a strong step toward correcting this situation. Noteworthy about this collection is the inclusion of "Tale of the Fox", Starewicz' only feature film (Even more amazing about this title is that it was produced in 1930, though released several years later) Also included is "The Mascot" (though it is a slightly shorter version than some prints in circulation) and a gorgeous print of "Town Rat, Country Rat" with the original French intertitles. All in all this collection is a worthy addition to any classic animation library.
