John Ramster - Biographical Information
John Ramster was born in 1967. He read History at Cambridge and has worked as an opera and theatre director since graduation. During his career, he has worked with such celebrated directors as Sir Peter Hall, Trevor Nunn, Deborah Warner and Peter Sellars. In the early 1990s he worked with Jason Donovan and Philip Schofield on the Palladiums production of Joseph. Since 1991 he has worked at Glyndeborne for the summer festival. His own shows include productions of The Marriage of Figaro and LElisir dAmore for the Mid Wales Opera, Magic Flute for the Garden Opera and LEnfant et les Sortileges and Onegin for the Birmingham Conservatoire. He has also taught courses on stagecraft in opera for the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music and the Guidhall. He lives in Brighton. John Ramster is 31 and an opera director with the Glyndebourne Touring Opera. Currently based in Brighton, he also runs educational workshops and is working on his next novel.
