This was a Marketplace purchase - so a previous buyer had returned it. I have bought this way before, it usually provides great value for money, but this time the product must have been returned because it was faulty. The lcd was too faint to read and the weigh platter would not remain upright when in stored position. Perhaps other Lacor scales are perfect, but this one wasn't. Amazon returns were, as ever, excellent.
