Lace for a Lady is a fascinating read. Set at the time of the Napoleonic wars, this engrossing story includes spies, smugglers, and romance. The writing is authentic giving a real feel for the time, and the heroine, Liddy, is a young woman who defies the conventions of her position in society to lead a gang of smugglers sailing between Scotland and France. This is a page turner with a heroine you will root for from page one.

The impoverished Balgowan estate on the east coast of Scotland is suffering from the restrictions forced upon it due to the interminable war with Napoleon. Beautiful Liddy Carpenter and her sisters are desperate for the luxuries which women in their position in society deserve.
