I have bought 3 of these things so far. One as a birthday present and 2 for myself (having broken one accidentally, be careful with them). Whilst looking around for a multimedia headphone for use with Netmeeting and general pc audio I found the Labtec Axis-002 at a local electrical store in France (I can't order these through Amazon internationally) and thought what the hell?

Fantastic! They look like proper decent personal headphones and sound like them too! During tests with Netmeeting over our LAN the microphone worked really well as it did in a more objective test using the PC to record the sound input as a .wav file. For PC audio (.mp3 or CD) they sound great.

Obviously you can spend far more on better headphones and a microphone but for pc use these work fantastically and are discrete enough that you don't look like an idiot at your desk! What more could you want?

I bought this for using with voice-recognition software. The microphone is excellent: I can drive my computer with very soft speech, it doesn't seem to pick up other noise (which the headset supplied with the software always did) and it's very easy to adjust the microphone position for speaking into.

The handy on-cable mute switch is very useful for when a colleague wants a word, and the whole thing is comfortable enough to wear all day, if you need to.

I do a lot of transcription work and because of finding typing more and more painful these days I wanted to utilise my Dragon NS more effectively than before. Having a good stereo headset with mic is vital for me, and this one looked interesting. I have to say personally (maybe my head's smaller than normal or something) I found it didn't really sit snugly on my head although at the same time wasn't falling off either. As others have said, it is very comfortable to wear and you do get so used to it after a while it's not a problem. Dragon appeared to find the mic much better in pickup as I got the sound quality up from an 18 with my old mic to a 24 with this, so that helped, and the fact that it has the ability to filter out background noise is useful as I enjoy playing music in the background, which certainly didn't seem to cause any problems with this. If you're not used to this particular style of back headrest it will take some time to adapt perhaps, but overall a very good product. I think perhaps my only niggle was the fact that you can only use the mic on the left side but it is fairly flexible so you can move it around a lot more than with some.
