Before the international fame of Amelie, the melodies that made Yann Tiersen famous were already in his sensitive mind and hart.
Probably his best work till now.

Some years ago we took a Brittany Ferries crossing from Portsmouth to Caen, and we were beguiled by the background "muzak" on board. We were told at reception it was Yann Tiersen (we'd never heard of him), and later that holiday in France we bought his CD "Rue des Cascades". His music is very original, very French - although we have heard hints of Penguin Cafe. We later bought "L'Absente" but somehow, in a recent clear-out, we lost it. We had to put this right, and here was the opportunity. When you put it on, you are instantly transported across the Channel.

l'absente is a great cd from the composer of the majority of the musicfrom amilee.
it is a fresh and rare sound that is captivating
iwould definately recomend this as it makes a welcome change from themundane music popular these days
it can be apreciated by all ages.
