Spent a while researching which 2TB External Disk I needed. Its purpose was to assist backing up some of my important files from my NAS box, so I had a few critical criteria: Needed to be 2TB, Needed to be flexible in connection (USB & eSata), needed to be small enough to travel with if needed. Lacie is a well-known name but not one I had used in the past. I had always thought of their products as having more style over substance. However this model fitted the bill exactly. It came with the required USB and eSata connections (along with cables for all in the box), is reasonably sized and has 2tb storage capacity. The drive works flawlessly and I was suitably impressed. The disk inside is 7200rpm and is very quiet. Although it is priced at the higher end of the market (there are a fair few others including Western Digital who sell drives cheaper with all the connections), I can see why. Of course it is aesthetically pleasing with the gloss black finish and blue lighting underneath, but the fact it has all these connection types and provides the cables for each - sold it for me. I have used this for over a month now and had no trouble with spin up time, data transfer, noise or speed. Although the drive comes with its own backup software, you aren't "forced" into using it which is nice. Needless to say I give it top marks as a high-end product which does the job well whilst looking pretty on my desk.
