I recently bought this for my old iMac G5 (to back up music), and there were no problems at all. It works straight out of the box, all you have to do is plug it into the mains (and of course your computer). It comes with two cables- USB and FireWire, so you have the option to use USB if your computer doesn't have a FireWire socket. I tried both, with FireWire being much faster than USB (as expected).
It looks rather cool sitting on my desk, and has none of the massive ridges and buttons everywhere like other hard drives do. When switched on, a subtle blue light appears just below the hard drive on whatever surface it is on- a nice design feature. The machine itself is also very quiet, with only a faint whir when it is active.
I would recommend this to any person who needs a lot of space (1TB) for a relatively low price. It is simple to use, so technophobes shouldn't be too worried about getting one either. My only gripe is that it's glossy black shell attracts a lot of fingerprint whenever it is picked up. But apart from that, it is a well designed, affordable, and easy to use piece of kit!
