3.0 out of 5 stars For die-hard fans only 13 May 2009
By FussyMissus TOP 100 REVIEWER
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
As a long time fan of LA Law, I jumped on this DVD hoping it would fulfil my thirst for the series. Sadly it is a let down on many fronts.
The story is ambiguous at best, more like a single episode than a special story just for dvd, and not a very good one at that. The characters are there, but some of them have radically changed over the years, and not just by ageing - Stuart and Anne seem to have gone hippie, whilst Arnie seems to have lost the plot totally. There are cameos from many of the cast, but it has the feeling of something hastily cobbled together.
If you look on this as a dvd of how the characters age and move on, then it's good enough, but don't expect too much from it else you will be disappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, but a bit of a let down. 13 April 2010
Format:DVD
Having been a fan of the seies when first broadcast & after watching all the episodes again when they were shown daily in the UK on ITV3 I decided to grab this.
Most of the characters are still there or appear, even some who had departed before the series ended - Roxanne, Grace, Michael Kuzak, Abby... no sign of Victor though, last seen heading off to New York with Grace.

The story which is a bit thin is about someone wrongly locked up for murder years ago, a relative burts into McKenzie, Brackman (I just googled the firm to get the spelling right & there is a real solicitors in London called McKenzie Brackman!) demanding to see Michael Kuzak regarding the case. But he left years ago, what are we to do??
Cue the new hippy Stuart Markwitz, who goes to see Michael who is now a restaurant owner, he gave up law after sending someone to the gas chamber by mistake, or something like that. So, he takes on the case and.... well I won't spoil it.

What annoyed me about this was there being no real link to the series in regard to the characters, probably because I'd just rewatched the series I noticed this more.

In the series Roxanne had gone off with Dave Myer (who pops up in a sub plot) & wasn't in the last season, now she's back & not only is she back, she has her own office & seems to be a fully fledged lawyer & not a PA.
Grace is back as a DA, but no explanation as to how she got back there (bet you can't guess who she goes head to head with in the courtroom).
Douglas is still Douglas, now senior partner, with his son working there also, we even get a staff meeting scene.
Leland pops up, now retired.
Benny is there, being the usual Benny, but at the end of the series, he had just married (Rosalie, remember?

4.0 out of 5 stars L.A. Law is back. 20 Jan 2004
By G. Tafoya - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
The L.A. Law reunion movie was very nice to see. The plot was a little lame and it would of been alot better if Jimmy Smits was in it. Maybe with this release they will do what other studios have done and release the series on dvd in boxed sets.

2.0 out of 5 stars Why nothing from the series????? 13 Mar 2008
By Proud to Stand for Science - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
My heart leapt when I followed a link from an Amazon email to this product. I thought the TV series had F-I-N-A-L-L-y been released. Instead I found this movie, which I remember watching when it aired: thinking it rather lame and wondering where some of the most-loved characters were.

Any word on when the series will be released? THAT will be worth buying!

3.0 out of 5 stars Where is the Box Set? 12 Jan 2008
By Kenneth M. Morris - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
When, if ever, are we going to see a Box Set of all the
television episodes?

What do we have to do to get or encourage one?

I want one, and I want it now!

3.0 out of 5 stars A gift for my mom 24 April 2012
By mdhodges - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my mom, as she loved the series and watched re-runs all the time, but had never seen this movie. While we weren't too terribly impressed by the plot, it was nice to be able to revisit the characters.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lame story 9 Feb 2005
By C. Jonsson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
This movie is as bad as the series last 3 seasons. A reunion-movie without Diana Muldaur, Amanda Donohoe, John Spencer and Jimmy Smits - please!
