Francesco di gregori's lyrics are beautiful and obscure so for the full effect it really does help to speak italian. However my husband whose idea of a foreign language is any accent south of Mansfield, assures me that the music is enough in itself. Probably the best known of his albums from an international standpoint, Donna Cannone, or Human Cannonball lady, is from a movie soundtrack and in the seventies was known all over the world. Following a wave of "New Folk" Donna Cannone has a whistful quality that probably appeals to lovers of certain kinds of seventies concept albums, though possibly not king crimson fans. It is a tremendously romantic sound and quintessentially italian and the only parallel i can think of in in english speaking popular music would be some earlier Carly Simon. Lovely music, worth a listen.
