You can just about use it but you have to be careful: in my unit the plunger is not big enough to seat properly into the jug so it sinks under gravity until it sits on the liquid falling slowly. This is ugly rather than obviously wrong at first, but when you depress the plunger, the coffee sometimes shoots round the side, out of the spout and up in the air and then lands wherever it will make the most mess. I have had this happen more than once.

This item arrived with a hole in the glass. This hole was concealed beneath the plastice holding and only became apparant after boiling water had been poured into it.
It's lucky the kids weren't in the kitchen when the boiling water started pouring over the countertop and foor.
Should've just gone to the high steet; making this online return is much more hassle.

I returned this item as it was supposed to be 3 cups- possible 3 espresso cups but not mugs. Refunds easily sorted and bought an 8 cup from tescos instead.
