Product Description
This large Le Teapot is ideal for brewing fresh tealeaves or fruit infusions. Made from toughened glass, it features an acrylic handle and internal basket for holding the leaves. Once brewing has finished, simply push the handle down to trap the leaves and pour directly into a cup or mug.

Bought this teapot because it looked good and had a sturdy loose tea leaf holder in the pot. After 3 months the base had split and the plastic cradle holding the glass bowl became lose resulting in the whole thing coming apart when you tipped the pot for pouring. You can guess what a mess that made !
It was probably designed this way to make it easier to disassemble for the dishwasher but the resulting product is very flimsy and even dangerous for the very young or disabled especially when you have hot tea splashing about everywhere.
Won`t get caught out like that again ...

I bought this teapot because I liked a similar model by Bodum which has its own flaws (dribbles) so I thought this one would be better. I didn't have high expectations as I have had glass teapots for the past 7-8 years and they always need replacing after a relatively short life (<2 years). This tea pot bought about 1.5 years ago is still going but clearly on its last length as the base has started splitting from the bottom and the crack is making its way up. So it's just a question of time until I have tea and tea leaves all over my kitchen or I get scalded. There's also the following dilemna about this teapot: it gets dirty between the plastic case and the glass bowl if you don't dismantle it from time to time, even if washed in the dishwasher. But neither is it designed to be dismantled often as 1. it's not practical to do so unless you live with a screwdriver in your pocket and 2. it weakens the plastic. So all in all not a great product but one you might end up getting because there are not many similar products around and the Bodum one I'm afraid to say is no better (I've had about 3 Bodum Assam teapots and 2 La Cafetiere ones by now).

The lid is made out of plastic which when exposed to hot water gives out a bad smell. It makes the tea tastes horrible. Used it only twice. Will not touch it again. What a waste of money.
