The electric kettle has an enclosed element in the case and an anti-scale filter which reduces scale build up in hard water areas. The stovetop kettle is suitable for any hob type, including induction. Complete with a safety whistle it is just as fast as the electric version given similar conditions.
Both kettles are available in satin cream, stainless steel, baby pink, baby blue, pastel green, matt black, red and white.

I bought this kettle as it's one of few kettles available without a plastic fill level window - living in a hard water area plastic inserts tend to crack and leak. Not only that, it doesn't have a metal or stainless steel finish - hard water leaves streaky marks on metal finishes, which looks horrible.
I've had it several months now and it does the job perfectly as it's a good size, boils quickly and fairly quietly, has a nice wide spout and the handle is well balanced making it easy and comfortable to pour. We have it in cream and it makes a very stylish edition to our kitchen and still looks pristine - no nasty streaks!
**UPDATE** Four years on from my original review and the kettle is still going strong with no leaks and it still looks great.

We bought this as a funky replacement for our old kettle, and in general we've been very pleased so far.
Pro's
- quieter than the super fast kettles
- pours well and doesn't 'dribble'
- looks cool
Con's
- not as fast to boil as our old one
- the lid is tight & a bit hard to remove when you want to fill it

This looks great in my black and white kitchen as a randon bright red splash! It works brilliantly and boils water fast. My only complaint is that the lid is sometimes difficult to remove to fill, but now i am used to it I dont have a problem.

Beautiful but remeber that's only surface deep!
