Installing a 2.5 inch SATA hdd in the case took all of five seconds. So easy my mother, whose only link with technology is the light switch, could have done it in just a short a time. I had the drive in my laptop upgraded to a larger capacity - and now the old hdd is a very useful portable external drive at the cost of just a few pounds. The service I received from the supplier and from Amazon was exemplary.

After buying a similar item which didn't work, was very pleased that this did the job straight away. Easy to fit the HDD into it, plug it in, and works great. Have bought a 2nd one in a different colour, so easy to identify my back-up drives.

This is a cheap and cheerful little product that isn't built to the finest of spec but nonetheless works well, looks good and does what it should.

I found that the lid might not close properly - if you check the sides of the lid you should see two little indents, like someone has made an indent with a punch or round pointy thing. These indents on the lid are what lock to the base so if when you close the lid you find it popping up again there is a simple fix...

1) Seat the drive and all that stuff
2) Put the lid on and hold the lid shut with one hand
3) Using a small phillpis screwdriver or nail (or whatever pointy thing you can find - tip of a biro works well) push on the indents I mentioned above until you can feel that you have increased their depth.

The idea here is to make sure those indents are large/deep enough that they grip the base and hold the lid in place. It's so easy to do and takes 5 seconds to fix if you are having trouble.

Aside from the build, I've had no problems at all with connectivity or reliability. For the money, this is a great little case that you can't go to far wrong with.

Was having trouble with a new Hard Drive in a old computer. Used this to format and load Ubuntu on another computer. Now working well.

I have also go another external storage device. This product is excellent and for the money a no brainer.

Thanks.

All tested with the same working 500gig disk.

Problems I found included
1) Unrecognized USB device;
2) Mysteriously missing files;
3) Any attempt to look at dirs or rename them ended up in explorer.exe lockup (windows 7)
All tested with the same working 500gig disk.

Cosmetic problems
1) Most cases wont stay closed - (Sellotape fix)
2) Led protrudes to various degrees - not important

Because of the major problems on the 3 that didn't work i cant trust this product to look after my drives safely :¬(

I will return the 2 broken ones and get replacements see how it goes

This product is easy to assemble and disassemble. Its colour stands out on an untidy desk. I would buy again.
