5.0 out of 5 stars Well pleased 9 Sep 2007
By DG
Verified Purchase
Having researched similar products and their reviews, more expensive options didn't come out any better, particularly for aerial performance and customer satisfaction - I didn't have high expectations having had a poor result with a satellite TV/PC product. I'm delighted with the results - I use the house aerial though the supplied one gives an excellent picture but a bit of wobble (dependent on placing - didn't persevere). The dongle does get hot (life expectancy?) so I've put a cable between it and the laptop. No problems with the software or remote. I've got 60 channels with UK scan, haven't yet tried Universal scan or all the recording features. Makes a mockery of TV sets, associated culture and pricing - Excellent. This one is for my student daughter, I'll be getting another.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1st Class product 31 Aug 2007
I ordered Two of these adaptors one for me and the other for my sister. Ordering was easy and delivery was very quick. Installation was very easy and operation was ok, I would suggest to anyone that unless you are about a 100mtrs away from a tv mast then the small aerial supplied is useless, you will need a good outside digital aerial/signal. many of the other complaints made by previous reviewers about the product are unfair since signal strength and computer requirements appear to be the main reason for problems. This is a first class product and gives great pictures and sound, also the recordings made are good as well. I would not hesitate in recommending this product to anyone.

Very good value indeed and that's what I thought when I bought my AF9005 USB TV Stick, the trouble is that now I have had it for a short while I wish that I had spent some more cash and bought a better one.
The sensitivity is very low; the whip Ariel supplied is useless unless you're sat on top of the transmitter. I have mine connected to an external aerial via a powered booster, even so, the picture still breaks up and freezes on some channels and I am in a strong signal area.
The AF9005 also only seems to work with the supplied Blaze TV software, all others I have tried including Nero and Microsoft Media Centre fail to pick up any channels. It also gets `very' hot in use, which means that it probably has a limited lifespan.
I'm going to sell mine for £5 and get a better `branded' device as the novelty of how cheap the AF9005 is has defiantly worn off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extreme value for money 18 Sep 2007
I received this very promptly today and have to say I am astounded at the quality of the product. It takes very little time to set up, tunes to more channels than my big set top box, best non-HD pic quality I have ever seen, comes with a remote control that actually works (and if you know how can be set up to control other media programs installed), and best of all - costs under a tenner! I really cannot fault this except by pointing out that the actual USB connection looks slightly flimsy and prone to bending, but that's being pedantic for the sake of it. Overall worth 5 stars, and this comes from a critical eye.

Buy this with confidence!

5.0 out of 5 stars excelent, basically. 5 Jan 2008
I was happily suprised when this iten actually worked! I didnt expect much for the price, but it doesn't just work. It works almost perfectly! I must admit, the provided aerial isn't much use. but when plugged into my roof aerial it picked up the channels my topset box does, and probably with a better picture. It does seem to lose signal when another usb device is plugged in next to it, but i can't complain. It installed quickly, and within minutes i was watching TV and recording programmes! It does run quite warm, and it takes a few seconds to change channels, but for the price its a great buy.

Also the seller, when contacted, is very promt to reply and very helpful.

1.0 out of 5 stars Item didn't work 31 Jan 2008
I could not get this to work, despite spending many hours searching for help on the internet. I already receive freeview and was using a rooftop aerial but still got no signal. Judging by the mainly positive feedback this may have just been a broken one. However, the connections are so flimsy that I'm amazed anyone got it to work - I had to hold the aerial into the adapter, which is hardly practical. I gave up, returned it (got full refund from GIZMO-DEALS with no problem) and purchased a Hauppauge version from PC World for £3 extra. The one from PC World worked perfectly straight away and is much sturdier.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great Gadget!! 18 Oct 2007
I received this product in 3 days despite the postals strikes. My laptop runs vista so I requested the updated software by email as advised, this was replied to and the details sent immediately. I live in an area where the TV reception is very poor so the little arial did not pick up anything, however when I plugged it into our home ariel it picked up loads of channels, and the picture is crystal clear. I can't wait to try it when we are out and about on our camping holidays! Fantastic Value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Impressive for the price! 22 Jun 2007
Unlike Mrs Hall, I had no problems registering the software. In fact I was watching Digital Freeview TV on my laptop within minutes of connecting the dongle. I was able to tune into over 37 channels (TV and radio) using only the supplied antenna in an area where I was forced to purchase a powered amplified booster aerial for my set top box. It gives a full EPG in the interface and the picture quality is very good, as is the quality of recorded programmes.
The downside is: The channels are not listed in chronological order, e.g. BBC2 is channel 12, etc.
That said, for the price I think the USB DVB-T Dongle is amazing, especially when you consider it costs a tenner!
