I ordered this in a panic after salon highlights left me with blocky yellowy colour (trainee rather than my usual colourist did it - never again!). Used it yesterday - v simple, mix together, apply (I left it on the hair for 10 mins - maxium recommended time), rinse off. Hair now sophisticated light ash blonde, much more flattering and exactly the effect I had hoped to achieve. Not cheap as have to ship from US, but, imo, very well worth it.

Had brassy tones used this and they went. Last time I was left with too many yellow/orange tones in my hair I dyed it again with a beige blonde colour to correct it. This was a much healthier way of correcting those unwanted tones.

I used this as I bleached my hair and it was brassy in places and yellow in others it is so easy to use I left it on for 20 mins although it says only 10 got a good result a nice ash blonde and more natural colour with tones. Would use again for definite.

I wanted to dye my hair a soft pink but I had to go blonde first, so I went from a really dark, dark brown to a light strawberry yellow blonde with platinum roots, I know!

While I managed to reach the right level of lightness with dye's I had some really brassy red tones running through the body of my hair and my roots had a yellowish white hue to them.

I found a video for this online and immediately ordered it, when I got my confirmation email however I noticed it was coming from overseas so decided in the meantime to go to my local drug store and get a violet toner and a silver shampoo. Both helped considerably and I ended up umming and arrhing as to if I might stay blonde for a while so when this arrived I debated whether I actually needed it anymore.

I decided that although my hair colour had improved considerably I still wasn't entirely happy with it so decided in the end to try it and boy am I glad I did, it is really, really good!

I was thinking I might have to purchase an ash blonde dye to take the final brassy tones out my hair or get another violet toner but I'm so glad I went with this instead. I absolutely love my hair colour.

Those tempted to try this need to remember that this won't lighten the shade of your hair colour only the tone so if you're not in the right area to start with you may end up being disappointed with the results. I however am super happy with my ash-honey blonde hair with white blonde highlights! It even made my brown roots which had started to come through blend better!!

Ignore the Instructions - It needs more than 10 minutes! 18 Oct. 2013
By LegallyBlonde - Published on Amazon.com
Long review, but worth reading - promise.

So I hadn't lightened my blonde hair in about 6 months (I'm quite fair to begin with so roots aren't really a concern) and after a very outdoorsy summer, I was seeing a LOT of brass. I'm away for school and have yet to find a salon as good as the one I visit at home. Out of sheer desperation/boredom I discovered this product through reviews and picked up a box.

I decided to do a test with an inch-wide section of hair and waited 5 minutes. No discernible difference. I let it hit the 10 minute mark. It looked a LITTLE bit ashier but no where near what I hoped to achieve. At this point I turned to Google to check out what might happen if I disobeyed the hair gods at L'Oreal and *gasp* left the product in longer than directed.

Google had the answer - or rather, many, many hair/make-up bloggers had the answer - most people in the know stated what I already suspected: the 10 minute maximum is a marketing ploy to sell efficiency but this product is not a miracle-worker. At least, not a speedy one. Most people said anywhere from 30-45 minutes was ideal for anyone seeking to wipe out any yellow/red tones. If you are already blonde and sort of golden (like me) but looking for that fresh-from-the-salon ashy tone, 25 minutes should do the trick.

I defied the instruction sheet (crumpled it up and tossed it in the garbage, actually) and waited for the 25 minutes to pass. Hopped in the shower, DID use a violet shampoo (what instructions?) and then applied the conditioning gloss in step 3 as directed.

After blow-drying.... Gorgeous! Soft, silky, ashy blonde hair!! And without the 2 hour, $200 trek to my go-to salon at home. This is huge, ladies. Don't discount this product until you break the rules. It's not going to burn your hair out at the roots or fry it or turn it purple. Patience is a virtue and this product is a blessing in disguise.

great toner 22 Dec. 2010
By Julie - Published on Amazon.com
My Clairol toner was discontinued so I tried this out as the second part of my 2 step processing. After 60 minutes of bleaching my hair was still yellow as usual, but after a 10 minute application of brass banisher the yellow had turned into a nice, slightly beige, pale blond. highly recommended.

Good product for the price 21 Sept. 2010
By Caroline M. Thomson - Published on Amazon.com
I have medium/dark brown hair (straight, shoulder-length, fine). I get approximately half a head of highlights every 10 weeks. I used to go to a really nice salon and they used a good toner after they took out my foils. I've been trying to save $ so I get my highlights done at a cheaper place. They don't use toner (unless you ask and pay extra). Some of my highlights looked really brassy when I got them done 3 weeks ago. I saw this product and figured I might as well give it a try. DON'T GO BY THE PICK ON THE BOX. There's no ammonia in this product (or peroxide) so it won't lighten your hair. It may have darkened the highlights a little (that's what salon toner does too and it fades out over 6 weeks). What I wanted was a little less brassiness and for my natural color to blend better with the highlights. Obviously getting my hair glazed at the salon looks better (costs like $40 though). For $8.50, this was pretty good.

Great product for your money 18 Jan. 2012

I have been bleaching my hair a few times and have been trying to get the lightest shade possible so I can get the platinum blonde color. This last time I bleached my hair, my hair turned out like corn yellow. This product is perfect to tone down the warm (yellow, orange shades) and gives hair a more "cool" tone.
I wouldn't say this made my hair any darker, it just made my hair more of a light ash blonde instead of like a light "golden" blonde.

If you have really thick hair that's past your shoulders, you might want to buy two boxes because I hardly had enough to cover all my hair. I would definitely use this again.
