This book is truly a godsend, as a person who's questioning his self-acceptance of himself this book has completely changed my life. Because of this book I've been able to greatly improve not only my self-esteem but more importantly the love of myself. Today I can say that I love and accept myself for who I am.

Very nice but not very deep 7 Sep 2011

Loving Ourselves by Dr. Kimeron Hardin is a pretty decent book about homosexual self esteem building in general. When I say, "in general," I mean it. The book goes in to very little detail about the topics it covers, (need to argue with a Bible thumper about anti-gay sentiment? Use the cultural relevancy theory! What's that? Who knows!), and never really gives you anything truly deep to comprehend about society or your own psyche. The book is a good starting point for homosexuals who need to get in touch with who they are and how they feel without thumping difficult subject matter on them too quickly. This is a STARTING point. If you get through the book don't expect massive results. He says the book is great for re-reading as it contains so much information that you may miss some just once through. I was excited about this at the start of the book, but had to laugh about it after. It really doesn't contain anything hard hitting. It actually came off as a breezy read that offers ordinary but lightly insightful advice to building self esteem. Also take note that since this book is for "homosexuals," A LOT will NOT apply to you. (If you aren't looking to change you sex, the chapter about transsexuals may not apply to you). But pick it up if you want a nice starting point to your road to self esteem.
