Format:Audio CD
The first time I saw Love Story was when I was a child in the 1980s. Apart from the very emotional story line, I remember the music the most. All my life this soundtrack has followed me.
The album contains a mix of beautiful recordings, with the classic 70s bass and drum sounds. A lovely sounding harpsichord appears through out and works amazingly against a girls voice, who sings so softly with the music. The piano and the strings make the album.
This soundtrack has touched me deep inside and I dont know why.
I do know that every song is so lovely recorded and arranged that I never get bored if hearing them. The song "Christmas Trees" is the most beautiful peice of music I have ever heard and always moves me.
If you are a fan of the Get Carter soundtrack, I think you would like this, as it is recorded in a similar way.
Buy it and enjoy.

stunning music ... so sad yet so beautiful ... brings me back to my childhood and the happy memories listening to my fathers albums ...

A sappy film it may have been (and the years have not been kind to it) but the soundtrack to 'Love Story' is, for the most part, a moving and beautiful piece of music. Most people of a certain age will remember the main theme - it was seemingly ubiquitous throughout the seventies - but it really deserves another hearing as it has aged magnificently and manages to distil many poignant memories of the era. Wistful, romantic yet somehow elegiac (in a way that is hard to define) Francis Lai's score never fails to propel me back to a time when somehow things were better and less knowing. My personal favourite has to be 'Snow Frolic' which still manages to create a profound sense of nostalgia and child-like wonder in me (as it did at the time). Sounds 'over the top'? Maybe, but the tune and the arrangement are really something to behold and employs a sumptuous mix of fat bass, drums and harpsichord set to a very French siren's call: just gorgeous!
If I have one criticism it is that this transfer to CD is quite poor. Compared to the old LP and analogue tape I had (both sadly long gone) the bottom end has really suffered leaving the bass weak and the overall sound a little flat. But don't let that put you off: just plug in your earphones, poor yourself a large glass of Mateus Rosé and transport yourself back to 1970 when things were better (weren't they?)
