What if your father had a secret that caused a murder?
LOVE AND MONEY, by million-copy New York Times bestseller Ruth Harris, is Book #3 in her Park Avenue Series. Originally published in hard cover by Random House to rave reviews, LOVE AND MONEY was honored by the Literary Guild and Book-of-the-Month Club and #1 on Amazon's Movers and Shakers list.

Set in motion by a long-ago betrayal, LOVE AND MONEY is about two sisters who do not know of each other's existence. Deedee Dahlen and Lana Bantry share a father but not an inheritance, a family but not a legacy, a lover but not a commitment.

Deedee, a socialite born with a silver spoon, is rich and beautiful, loved and celebrated. Lana, the illegitimate child of a brief encounter, grows up ignored and resented--until she forces the world to pay attention.

Deedee and Lana, sisters and strangers, might never have met until their worlds collide when Slash Steiner, the glamorous and dynamic man from nowhere, marries one and falls in love with the other. And when murder brings the two women--sisters and strangers--face to face.

"Richly plotted and racing to a shocking climax, this glittering novel is first-class entertainment."   NY Times Book Review

"Ruth Harris has done a miraculous job of entwining the lives of two women in a believable and fascinating way. You won't have to hide if someone asks what you're reading."  West Coast Review of Books

"Fast-paced, superior fiction. With a crisply precise and descriptive narrative style and an unerring ear for dialogue, Harris has written a terrifically satisfying 'good read.'" Fort Lauderdale News Sun-Sentinel

4.0 out of 5 stars Love and Money 29 May 2012
By BigAl TOP 1000 REVIEWER

Two words that come to mind to describe Love and Money are archetypical and epic. The story of a child born to privilege who ends up raised by poor parents is as old as Oedipus. I have vague memories, although I haven't been able to dredge the details from the recesses of my memory, of a kid's folk tale with two sons of a king, one raised in the castle and the other by peasants. These character types can be the basis of a great story, comparing the differences in the lives and personalities of the two characters.

It is epic, in that it follows the story of the sisters from birth until well into adulthood. The story covers a lot of ground, both in time and experience of the main characters. Think of something by Alex Hailey and the like. At more than 125,000 words, Love and Honor isn't a quick read.

Although I largely enjoyed the book, I did a double take when a new product took poor-girl Lana's company from "a regional business" to a player nationally or internationally three different times, with no indication the company had fallen on hard times in between. And the two sisters were described as step-sisters in at least one spot, which wasn't technically true (they're half-sisters). But these are just nitpicking. Overall Love and Honor was a fun, entertaining, and at times, thought provoking read.

3.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant afternoon read 17 July 2011

I received a free copy of this book for my review. This is a story about romance, success and secrets. A good recipe for a novel, but I felt it lacked emotional depth. It seemed as if the author was disconnected from the characters, just telling their stories as if reeling them off on a news prompter. It wasn't the writing, the dialogues, the storyline or even the ideas, because they were all good and plentiful. It just failed to reach out to me. It wasn't a bad little read, quite pleasant, but there was def. something missing.LOVE AND MONEY

5.0 out of 5 stars Things aren't always as they seem ... 18 July 2011

I received a complimentary copy of Love and Money by Ruth Harris in exchange for my review. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it if you're looking for a good summer read. The story of two sisters, their father and the lives they live proves that that old saying, "the grass is always greener on the other side" is only in our perception and how we accept what comes along. I'll be looking for other books by Ruth Harris and hope they are as enjoyable as this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Summer Read 26 Jun 2011

Love and Money - the story of lovely, rich, spoiled Deedee and handsome, dangerous, wrong side of the tracks, Slash. This book grabbed me from the beginning and kept luring me back in until I finished it. Slash is the perfect romantic hero - totally in love with his Deedee and willing to do anything to keep her. The story spans several decades - into the rebellious 60's and 70's. I was fascinated by the explanation of how Slash grows his wealth, proving that he is more than equal to Deedee's rich, upper crust family. Their story is not all happiness though - they have many struggles, and twists and turns along the way, which will keep a reader coming back to see how it all turns out. I highly recommend this book for a great summertime read. I received a complimentary copy of this book in order to review it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A tale of two sisters 3 July 2011
By Melissa Bleier - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I received a complimentary copy of Love and Money by Ruth Harris in exchange for my doing a review. I enjoyed the character analysis of all the family members. I liked how the book was almost divided between the lives of the 2 sisters and how they dealt with love and money. A lot of surprises when the characters assumed how the others felt rather than giving them a chance to explain themselves. Having money is important but not as important as having love. I will definitely check out the author's other books.
