1.0 out of 5 stars Soft-Core Porno spoof of the first movie. 15 Oct 2010
By Emrabt
Nobody expected this movie to be great, but it is truly awful. My advice would be to Skip it and go straight to The Thirst, this adds nothing to the plot or character development. It seem to mix up Sam Emerson's character with Alan frog, having vampires mention Edgar's brother a few times, then having a 20 second cameo in the end credits with Corey Haim.

The first low point, for me anyway, was the amount of swearing in the opening few minutes, it begins right after the Warner logo and is totally unneeded. The next big problem is the updated vampires, they aren't cool, not in the slightest, in an attempt to be "XTREAM" and "with it" these vampires stab each other and upload it to youtube. The creators obviously had no clue about the audience of this movie, maybe they didn't realise that the fans that saw the original are now Corey Felmans age. That's the beauty of the original it spans almost 3 generations, something the creators of this movie didn't know, thinking the audience would be comprised of self harmers and sex crazed 13 year olds.

The story itself plodded along slowly for the first 40 or 50 minutes, it's essentially an unenthusiastic remake of the original. It tried half heartedly to be a lost boys movie, It ended up copying many of the events from the first one. The script writer has taken most of the scenes from the original mixed them up and wrote some new lines of dialogue to glue them together. The "Magic" isn't there. It's missing a plot twist and some well needed lovable characters (maybe it's that lack of younger teens?). You also have Feldman over acting his heart out in an attempt to compensate for some of the other actors. It doesn't save the movie, but it is the highlight, in fact I cheered at the T.V when he appeared.

2.0 out of 5 stars Classic first film, poor sequel. 9 Sep 2008
The first film in this set is a masterpiece. There are enough reviews on here stating just that, so this review will concentrate solely on the sequel.

When I first heard about this sequel I had mixed feelings. The original is arguably one of the greatest vampire movies ever made. Done with the originals atmosphere and energy, a sequel could be very good. However, I also felt it could be total disaster because some films should never be remade or spawn sequels, and lost boys is a prime example of this.

Sadly the film didn't live up to either expectation. As a vampire movie on its own it would probably sink without a trace. By calling it a sequel to the lost boys, it will guarantee that suckers like me will watch it that have such fond memories of the original. There are so many problems though, I don't know where to begin. Whilst the original was an adult film, it never became offensive whereas in the sequel, the characters are not likeable or cool, and talk in such a profane manner it borders on the offensive. Its seems as if the writers were going for a record on how many times the "F" work could be used before the opening credits roll. I do my fair share of swearing, but, when it's used with such frequency in a film it just doesn't sound real and becomes tiresome.

Another issue is a dreadful performance from Angus Sutherland. In the original, Keifer Sutherland gave a masterclass in how to portray a charismatic, and at the same time terrifying, lead character. In this sequel Angus (Keifers half brother) gives a performance devoid of any charisma or menace and seems to think that by whispering and mumbling the audience will not notice just how dire he is.

1.0 out of 5 stars Actually, this is terrible! 11 Aug 2008
A surfer/biker/teen/vampire movie. With an awful soundtrack. Or perhaps it should be a rubbish/dodgey acting/not remotely scary/cheap special effects/vampire movie. With an awful soundtrack.

Nothing like the first Lost Boys film, which was tongue-in-cheek funny and scary too. This is just the usual cheap teen horror flick, with some sex scenes, some blood, and no real story line. Girl gets bitten, will her brother save her? Will Corey Feldman start talking in a normal voice? Yes, and no. And there you are.

If you're a juvenile male you might enjoy it (coo, look, nipples!).

Anyone else should steer clear.

Okay first the good news The Lost Boys is still going & the bad news, yeah we will get there in a bit

The Lost Boys was made in 1887 & for a teenager I was at the time in College this was this movies target audience & wow did it not fail as up till then vampires were always "Count" something or other & wore black with cloaks & lived in old Castles which was done to absolute unending but now here is a film with the pop culture of that time embarrassed but funnily enough you look at it 24 years later & you realize how clever they were when making it because there is nothing that really dates it except for the odd bit of clothing on Sam Emmerson.
The film is really enjoyable, well written, extremely well acted & never a bad moment with even the older actors being allowed to act as individuals rather than Mother,Grand Pa or Sinister Head Vampire.
Best Vampire movie ever.
Now the not so good bit is that they made this sequel & don't get me wrong I think if the movie had not been connected to the Lost Boys then this may well have been viewed by me as not so good but not good enough instead as with any sequel they matched it up against the first Lost Boys & even though you may not feel yourself making comparisons indeed you are.
It was good to see Corey F back as Edgar Frog but a shame he has only a supporting role & Corey C who was Sam Emmerson in the first one is not there all together nor is a vital piece this film lacks & that is being anywhere near the same league as the original but I would say the main cast did their jobs as well as they could but the whole movie idea was a bad one in the delivery of the product.
