Product Description

Product Description

After the business plan, the first step for any new company is choosing a name a seemingly simple activity, but one that can be extremely challenging. The next and equally challenging step is designing a logo that is eye catching, appropriate, and reflective of thebusiness name. Even for the seasoned designer, this is a remarkably difficult task. Logo Savvy helps readers understand how to define the right approach and achieve an innovative and unique solution for both the name and the logo design. Chapters showcase companies whose identities have evolved visually through the introduction of a great name, as well as companies that have developed a visual identity in tandem with a name. Case studies, corresponding side bars, and tips provide designers with the inspiration and tools they need to find the right approach for their own clients.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! Thought provoking and well supported with great designs, 22 Jul 2009

I love this book. It's written by designers, for designers and gives plenty of food for thought as well as some interesting case studies. The logo designs are inspiring and the stories behind each ones bring it to life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful branding case studies, 7 April 2009
By Si (UK) - See all my reviews
A very good-looking book with a variety of well-illustrated examples of branding challenges and solutions told through interesting stories. I'd like to have seen more theory behind how the names and branding designs were created - less of the 'this is what we did', more of the 'this is why we did it' - but it's a comparatively minor criticism. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to be inspired by branding designs, from mega-brands right through to niche products.
