If you are looking for a bargain priced performer, you could do far worse than consider the LM Technologies USB 2 802.11n wireless adaptor.

It does exactly what it says on the can, and does it very very well. Ideally, I would back this statement up with graphs showing signal-strength vs range, and provide comparisons with other equipment such as DLink 802.11g USB device(54mb) and a Netgear WG511T 802.11g/super-G (54/108mb) cardbus adaptor. But I dont have the time. Normally I use the Netgear with my laptop; it works and works well, and the Dlink with a desktop. However the Dlink has been problematical lately, and my laptop needs a new charger, hence the purchase. I've used Netgear exclusively at home since 1997/8, bar the Dlink, and never been let down yet. I bought the N because I couldn't find a reasonable priced Netgear USB N from a reputable supplier.

The package is minimal; the usb stick, a driver CD, and a slip of paper detailing the installation - which is literally insert device into a free USB port, and insert the CD into your PC. Drivers are provided for Mac, XP, Vista, and Win7, in both 32 and 64bit. Surprisingly, Windows XP64 is also supported , which is great for me as I use XP64 on my main desktop.

The N showed immediate promise from the off. The driver is a simple install, and doesn't insist on installing large numbers of bloated, unnecessary programs. It installs a simple, easy-to-use client and a driver. And thats about it. Opting to use the supplied software, rather than Windows, to manage my wireless connection, I fired up the software to configure my network connection. The first thing I noticed was the improvement in received signal strength, the second was the greater number of visible networks.

Cat5e is certified up to 1gb - so if you have your router very close use cable.
Otherwise get rid of your BThomehub (although it's an ok router) get a 300mbs router (netgear dgn 2200 is one - BT Compatible - add user name is all you need to do) then its worth buying a wireless adapter like this one. And yes I do own this adapter and a 300mbs router.

This product will take a few minutes to install (OS:Windows 7 64bit) followed by a restart. Found wireless network no problem.

Excellent for the price. Drivers are Realtek

I must say that this little 'stick' does the job. Just plugged it in a USB port and installed drivers on my Vista x64, rebooted and was up and running in no time and it gets on with my BT hub !!!

Looked for some time for a Vista compatible Wifi Adaptor. This was cheap and had good reviews. Easy to install, run and works perfectly. It was working 20 mins after unpacking. If only everything was a painless to set up and use. Get one.

I bought this to replace my NetGear Wireless adapter which gave a poor signal and would lose connection altogether when it got hot. This adapter is brill. It's fast to install, gives a brilliant signal to my BTHomeHub, works with Vista and is a great price to.
