I bought this item primarily to back up my SIM card, which is does. The product says that you can write text messages with it and send them back to the SIM card for sending. This also works. However, I've found some problems with the process. Firstly, I found that any text messages I had stored on the SIM card got corrupted when you wrote data back to the card. Also, all my speed dials and voice tags got lost and I had to re-assign them. If you want to use it just to back up your numbers, edit them and send them back to the SIM card, it's fine. But you may lost your speed dials, voice tag links and existing text messsages may become corrupted.

Do not buy a Cingular SIM reader, they do not work. The SIM Master is well worth the extra pennies. I like gadgets and this worked straight from the box, (software is easy to download & must be done 1st). Clear easy to use manual, (I prefer the full colour and clarity of the CD-ROM user manual). When the reader was plugged into my laptop & SIM card inserted, the user interface came up very quickly, it read all my contacts from my Noka N95 with an old O2 card. Editing was a joy, and backup easy, rewriting to SIM a doddle, I guess I'm very happy with this product.

It does the job 4 April 2007
I bought this simply to back up my SIM card to my PC in case it ever was lost or stolen. It does that basic job with no problems at all, what's more you can also edit data on your PC and then copy it back to your SIM card. That's makes life so much easier. The software is quite simple to use as the printed instructions give you a step by step guide on how to use it.

So far, so good. I've not had any problems with this device at all.

Didn't work
Unfortunately I was unable to get this to work. The card wasn't detected when in the reader. Used with Windows 7. Could have been a fault with the reader.
